KCP&L and Spire Energy Savings Program

Get up to $1,900 for air sealing, attic insulation, and wall insulation.  

Get rebates from KCP&L and Spire Energy for energy upgrades - $600 for air sealing, $1,000 for attic insulation, and $300 for wall insulation, through their Energy Savings Program. 



Steps to participate:

1. Have an Authorized Contractor perform a comprehensive energy audit on your home. (We are an Authorized Contractor, so schedule today)

2. Install at least one approved energy improvement recommended by your energy auditor.

3. The contractor/auditor will submit the application for you.

4. You will receive the rebate in 6-8 weeks.

5. Be comfortable and start saving!

This no-to-low interest loan program has helped over 3,500 local residents and businesses since 2010.  If you have a property in Cass, Clay, Jackson, or Platte Counties in Missouri, Johnson or Wyandotte Counties in Kansas, you could get a loan for energy improvements.

HERO Program

Finance your home renovation the smart way. Approvals are primarily based on your home equity and the loan typically stays with the home instead of following you around! Insulation, windows, HVAC, water conservation, and even solar panels are improvements that are included in the program.

Features like up to 25-year terms, borrow up to 15% of home's value, and low, fixed rates are all available through the program and will help you make your home more comfortable and utility bills lower.

Currently only available in Jackson County, MO, but stay tuned to find out when the program expands.

Section 25C Federal Tax Credit

A credit of 10 percent of the cost of qualified energy-efficient improvements. Qualified improvements include adding insulation, energy-efficient exterior windows and doors, and certain roofs. The cost of installing these items is not included in the credit calculation. 

Additionally, a credit is available, including the costs of installation, for certain high-efficiency heating and air-conditioning systems, as well as high-efficiency water heaters and stoves that burn biomass fuel. 

There is a lifetime limitation of $500, of which only $200 may be used for windows. Qualifying improvements must have been placed in service in the taxpayer's principal residence located in the United States

 through Dec. 31, 2016.

Independence HELP

Get up to $15,000 for energy improvements with the Independence HELP program.  The program provides low-interest loans for eligible energy efficiency measures to residents of Independence, Missouri. HELP is supported with $250,000 from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009.

Owner-occupants of residences located in the City of Independence qualify for the program. The residence must have four dwelling units or less. The loan applicant must own the entire residence and occupy at least one dwelling unit. Energy efficiency measures that are recommended by a qualified energy auditor that performs an approved energy audit of the whole house qualify for this program.
